Nearly two months after Hurricane Michael made landfall, Texas Baptist Men chainsaw crews, emergency food-service workers, heavy equipment operators and other volunteers continue to offer disaster relief in the Florida Panhandle.
So far, TBM disaster relief workers have contributed more than 22,400 volunteer hours and prepared close to 53,000 meals, with their deployment to Florida expected to conclude Dec. 15.
On Dec. 3, 58 volunteers were serving in the area around Blue Spring Baptist Conference center, northwest of Tallahassee, Fla., including four chainsaw crews.
Since mid-October, TBM volunteers have completed more than 130 chainsaw jobs, placed temporary roofs on 19 homes, washed 840 loads of laundry and provided access to more than 230 showers. Heavy equipment operators have logged about 560 hours.
