Black Family Creates Buzz On Social Media Because All Four Children Followed In Their Father’s Footsteps to Became Doctors Just Like Him

Parenting is never a walk in the park, but some people seem to have naturally mastered the art. Being able to live a life that can inspire your children to work hard at becoming just like you is not always what many parents achieve. In most families, children forge their own paths in life – even if under the guidance of their parents. But one Nigerian-American family has achieved an amazing goal, and is creating buzz on social media after all four kids in the family became doctors like their father. This can be termed as one of the best family goals – but only possible with determination, and outstanding abilities.

Their father, Dr. Herbert Oye, moved to the United States back in the 1970s from Nigeria. He attended medical school and completed his studies successfully. Today he is established in his career and has gone on to open his very own vascular surgery practice in West Virginia.

On the West Virginia Vascular Institute’s official site, Dr. Oye is described as, “Herbert Oye, DO, FACOS, is a Board Certified Endovascular and Vascular Surgeon, specializing in invasive and non-invasive treatment of vascular diseases. Dr. Oye received his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. His General Surgery residence was performed at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, an affiliate of Albert Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Oye completed his fellowship training in advanced vascular and endovascular surgery at the Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.”

Dr. Oye did not forget his roots despite the great success he had achieved in life. Having come from Nigeria, he went back to his homeland and opened a hospital. With his determination, strength, and hard work, he is also a father of four very smart children. Naturally his children – Michelle, David, Monique and Melissa Oye – have grown up to not only respect him, but to also admire him. Inspired by him tremendously, they all opted to follow in his footsteps and become doctors as well. And now looking at the achievements of their father, they all have a goal to ultimately have their own practices.

On the official site, Dr. Oye addresses his patients inviting them to his services stating, “ I want to inform you that I am now accepting patients at my practice, the West Virginia Vascular Institute, located next to Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in the Southern West Virginia Clinic, at 250 Stanaford Road….The services I can provide for your patients include, but are not limited to: Endovascular Procedures, Open Vascular Procedures and  Special Interest, which include Minimally Invasive Varicose Vein Treatment; Advanced Wound Care Treatment; Hyperbaric Ozone treatment; Neurometrix Testing (non-invasive neurological study).

There are so many ways in which Black Excellence has been making headlines, as more and more people go against the odds to make it big in their fields of interest. And, as a result, more people in African-American communities are getting inspired to work against the tide, change the negative narrative, and embrace their potential for a better tomorrow. At the end of the day, it boils down to individual efforts made every day.
