North Korea created a spectacle during the Arirang Mass Games display which saw thousands of tourists pack into Pyongyang’s May Day Stadium last month.
The mass games saw the South Korean leader President Moon Jae-in give a speech to the North Korean public during his three-day visit, marking an unprecedented move for both nations.
As the two Koreans held their first-ever joint event to celebrate the anniversary of a 2007 summit which involved then-South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and then-North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, performers were seen performing a grandiose display of dance and gymnastics.

The event also saw South Korea’s president cheered by 150,000 North Koreans as he attended the iconic spectacle.
During his unprecedented mass games speech the South Korean leader said: ‘I propose that we should completely end the past 70 years of hostility and take a big stride of peace to become one again.’
The Arirang Games, which was last held in 2013, is a significant part of North Korea’s domestic propaganda and is a mass gymnastics and artistic festival.
This year’s performance titled ‘Shining Fatherland’ after the the name of a patriotic song performed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s favorite girl band, Moranbong, brought thousands to its stadium.
