ATHENS, Ala. — A 15-year-old girl accused of fatally stabbing her mother and older sister has been arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder.
Limestone County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Stephen Young says the teenager is being charged as a juvenile and her name will not be released. It was unknown if the girl has an attorney.
Deputies found the girl trying to kill herself with a knife when they responded to a call just after 1 a.m. Wednesday in the Lester community. She was treated for stab wounds to her head and neck and released from the hospital Friday.
Al.com reports officials say she’ll now face charges for killing her mother, 44-year-old Rosa Aminta Maldonado, and sister, 19-year-old Rosa Lee Maldonado.
Investigators have not released a motive for what sparked the incident.
