Former College Football Coach & His Wife Found Dead in Suspected Homicide-Suicide

Former college football coach Dave Jordan and his wife, Jean, were found dead at their home in a suspected homicide-suicide, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office’s official records.

Jordan was the head coach at Grossmont College, a junior college outside of San Diego, for 23 years. He retired in 2006. The program is unaffiliated with the NCAA.

The couple, both 82 years old, were found Sunday morning at their home in El Cajon, California, with gunshot wounds to their heads. Jean Jordan was found with a gun in her hand. A suicide note was left on the sliding glass door entering the home.

The first person to arrive on the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office, was Dave Jordan’s physical therapist, who was not identified.

The medical examiner’s office ruled Dave Jordan’s death a homicide and Jean Jordan’s death a suicide.
