Website Claims to Have Shortlist of Pastors Being Considered to Lead New Birth Missionary Baptist Church

The gossip site Obnoxious TV, which sometimes trafficks in through-the-grapevine news about the black church, has revealed what it claims is the shortlist of pastors being considered to take over New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA.

Stephen A. Davis, who pastors the New Birth branch in Birmingham, AL, stepped down from the lead pastor role in June.

In an unsubstantiated post on Facebook, Obnoxious TV wrote:

Breaking News! New Birth senior pastor candidates are John Gray, Freddie Haynes, George Bloomer, Jamal Bryant, Charles Jenkins, and Marvin Sapp!

The so-call1ed breaking news should be taken with a grain of salt. John Gray is the very new pastor of Relentless Church in Greenville, S.C. Freddie Haynes, Jamal Bryant, and Marvin Sapp are not likely to leave their current very successful ministries.

George Bloomer,, founder and pastor of Bethel Family Worship Center in Durham, N.C., may be game for taking over New Birth. But the most likely of the supposed candidates is Charles Jenkins, pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, who is said to currently be living in Georgia.

Unsubstantiated reports aside, New Birth has said it is conducting a nationwide search for its new leader.
