Over 100 Former Ohio State Students Reported University Doctor’s Sexual Misconduct

More than 100 former Ohio State University students reported firsthand accounts of sexual misconduct by former university doctor Richard Strauss between 1979 and 1997, the university said Friday. Investigators from the Perkins Coie LLP firm have conducted interviews with over 200 “former students and university staff believed to have information concerning the allegations” according to a news release. The firm is expected to conduct 100 more interviews. The allegations were made by students who played 14 varsity sports and others who were treated by Student Health Services. Perkins Coie is also investigating “whether, and to what extent” Strauss, who died in 2005, treated high school-age students. Four former students filed a lawsuit Tuesday saying that OSU knew about the abuse and did nothing.
