Ex-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn Joins Lobbying Firm After Pleading Guilty in Russia Probe

Trump’s former National Security adviser Michael Flynn will join the new global lobbying firm Stonington Global LLC while awaiting his sentence for lying to federal prosecutors during the Russia probe, according to a Tuesday report from The Wall Street Journal. After joining Trump’s team as a national security adviser, Flynn was ousted after only 23 days when Trump claimed he had lied to Vice President Pence about the nature of his conversations with Russian officials. The Wall Street Journal reports that “Mr. Flynn had assured Mr. Pence that he did not discuss the Obama administration’s sanctions on Russia for interfering in the presidential election.” But last December, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators about the content of those talks. His sentencing date has not yet been set, but he could spend up to six months in jail. Neither of Flynn’s new business partners, lobbyists Nick Muzin and Joey Allaham, knew him personally prior to this offer, but Allaham told the Journal that they reached out because “his experience speaks for itself.” “I said to him, your life should not be stopped,” Allaham added. “He has experience all over the world. He can do a lot for us. We are very lucky to get a man like that.”
