An Instagram star has shared a shocking picture of herself bandaged and bruised after being involved in a horrific car crash that left one of her best friends dead.
Jamie Bennett – a 16-year-old from Marietta, Georgia – opened up to her followers about a car crash in Naples, Florida, that she said will ‘change her life forever.’ Her friend Brooke Rice did not survive the crash.
‘We were simply just trying to ride down the street with the windows down to get the bugs out of the car,’ Jamie wrote in a caption on Instagram. ‘Things happen in a heart beat.’
On Saturday evening, Jamie – who has garnered followers on Instagram with her fitness and fashion posts – was in a single-vehicle rollover crash with three of her friends while driving down the block.
On her Instagram, the teen explained how everything happened in an instant and before they knew it the car was in a ditch.
‘We all decided that we should go down the street for a ride with the windows down to get the bugs out,’ she wrote.
‘We were all jamming out to the song “taste” and Brooke was sticking her head out of the window letting the wind brush her face. She had the biggest smile on her face.
‘Moments later we ended up in a ditch. l climbed back through the sunroof and searched for my friends.’
Jamie revealed that had the car rolled one more time, she probably would have died instantly because the open sunroof caused her to get ejected from the vehicle.
‘Last night l had to try to digest a lot all at once,’ the teen wrote.
‘God spoke through the officer and told me that my life was spared because if we flipped one more time l would’ve been instantly killed because l was ejected from the sunroof.’
But her 16-year-old friend, who attended St. John Neumann High School in North Naples, did not survive the crash.
It remains unclear what caused the car to roll as police officers are still investigating the single-vehicle crash; DailyMail.com has contacted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for more information.
The other two people in the vehicle at the time of the crash were high school students Clare Cuenya and Sophie Shrader.
Jaime said this moment has changed her life forever as she described her friend as an angel who was ‘loved by everyone, including myself.’
‘This is going to change me for ever,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘God has a plan. He does everything for a purpose. l wish l could do more. l wish things didn’t have to be like this. Brooke, my beautiful angel, rest easy.’
A tribute for the fallen high school student was scheduled Monday morning at her high school.
