WATCH: Dr. Carla Stokes Named Executive Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church

Dr. Carla Stokes, an elder at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, has been named the church’s new executive pastor.

The announcement was made this past Sunday by Bishop Neil Ellis who was also the guest speaker.

The church’s lead pastor, Bishop Steven Davis, resigned a few weeks ago. A nationwide search is underway for a new lead pastor.

According to her bio, “Dr. Carla Stokes is a leader with a passion for empowering others to reach their fullest potentials. A native of the Washington, DC metropolitan area, she attended Howard University where she earned a Bachelor in Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Education degree in School Psychology. As a lifelong learner, Dr. Stokes continued her education earning doctorate degrees from Temple University (Psychology) and Life Christian University (Theology).

“For over twenty years, Dr. Stokes has served students as an educator, school psychologist and administrator in public education systems in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Georgia. She has also contributed to post-secondary education as a professor, lecturer, and researcher at multiple colleges and universities.

“Dr. Stokes is the CEO of Carla Stokes, Inc. and the Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Director of Outreach for the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. As a child psychologist, community volunteer, administrative leader, business owner, consultant, ordained minister, mentor and teacher, Dr. Stokes uses her gifts and talents in her local community and around the globe as she dedicates her life to improving the lives of people from all cultures.”
