In her first public comments since Bill Cosby was convicted last month of drugging and sexually assaulting her, Andrea Constand said the comedian “needs to repent for what he did.” Speaking on NBC News’ Dateline late Friday, Constand said she was compelled to come forward after seeing other women making similar allegations “in droves.” “He needs help and he needs to repent for what he did, not only to me but to a lot of women,” she said. “He’s a convicted sex assaulter, but I forgive him for what he did to me.” Cosby, 80, faces up to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty last month on three counts of indecent aggravated assault. More than 60 women have accused Cosby of drugging and raping them in alleged incidents going back decades, but Constand’s allegations against him were the first to bring a conviction.
