Joy Reid issued another apology on Friday, this time in response to two of her blog posts that were uncovered by Buzzfeed, one of which shows John McCain as the Virginia Tech shooter and another promoting a 9/11 conspiracy theory.
‘While I published my blog, starting in 2005, I wrote thousands of posts in real time on the issues of the day. There are things I deeply regret and am embarrassed by, things I would have said differently and issues where my position has changed. Today I’m sincerely apologizing again,’ said Reid.
‘I’m sorry for the collateral damage and pain this is causing individuals and communities caught in the crossfire. To be clear, I have the highest respect for Sen. McCain as a public servant and patriot and wish him and his family the best.’
The Daily Beast is now reporting that Jonathan Capehart, Reid’s openly gay co-worker, will replace her for at least one program this weekend.
It was the second apology she has released relating to old blog posts, and unlike the first made no mention of her previous claims that she had been hacked.
MSNBC is standing by her regardless, releasing a statement that said: ‘Joy has apologized publicly and privately and said she has grown and evolved in the many years since, and we know this to be true.’
MSNBC and Reid’s lawyer had no comment.
Reid’s troubles began in December, when social media posts and remarks on her blog which contained anti-gay remarks were uncovered online.
