Pastor John Gray has been the de facto pastor of Relentless Church (formerly Redemption Church) in Greenville, S.C., for three weeks now. But next weekend, the official installment ceremony will be held — but it looks like it all gets started with a party.
Pastor Gray’s wife, Aventer, made the announcement on her Instagram account, writing: “SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!! Next weekend is a special time for my family, my husband, our church, and all who have been with my husband on his 23 year journey of ministry up until this very moment. It’s the official installation celebration for JOHN W. GRAY III! The weekend is dedicated to celebrating his work and RELENTLESS CHURCH.”
She also revealed a “surprise” that she’d been planning for her husband’s big day: several artists will be on hand to help the church celebrate. Rory Comtois, Da’dra Greathouse, Mariah McManus, Mary Mary (Erica & Tina Campbell), and Lecrae will perform at the event scheduled to take place from 12-5 PM on Saturday, June 2nd. The program, billed as “Relentless Family Day,” will be emceed by comedians Tyson Ramsdell and Marcus D. Wiley.
Mrs. Gray ended her announcement with some loving words of encouragement: “Enjoy, husband. You’ve been there for so many people. Now people want to show up for you.”
The “pastoral installation ceremony” will take place on Sunday, June 3rd, at 6:30 PM.
