UPDATED: “The Life Prayer,” by Daniel Whyte III

Christian evangelist and national bestselling author, Daniel Whyte III, has written and published a prayer that is fitting for our times.

It is called “The Life Prayer,” and expresses a desire for God to prepare us for the many eventualities that we all face — good days, bad days, laughter, tragedy, weddings, funerals, life, and death.

While the prayer acknowledges the negativities of life, it is also a reminder that there is much positivity that we can focus on. It echoes the words of the Wise Preacher Solomon, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die… A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…” (Ecclesiastes 2).

The Life Prayer

God, prepare us for good days and bad days,
prepare us for celebrations and tragedies,
prepare us for weddings and funerals,
prepare us for life and death.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
