WATCH: 95-Year-Old Florida Grandmother Arrested for Slapping Disrespectful 46-Year-Old Granddaughter with Slipper
A 95-year-old grandmother was arrested last weekend after she hit her 46-year-old granddaughter in the face with a slipper, Daytona Beach police said.
95-year-old Hattie Reynolds of Florida hit her 46-year-old granddaughter in the face with a slipper on Saturday and got arrested for it after calling the police. WCVB reports: “According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Hattie Reynolds told police her granddaughter, Janeen Williams, 46, would not get out of bed, and that she was ‘tired of her staying in bed all day soaking up the air conditioning.’ When officers arrived at the home, Williams [who was not injured] told police she did not want to press charges, but because of ‘strict domestic violence laws’ Reynolds was arrested. ‘If your wife reported that you threatened to hit her, you would be arrested because that is a domestic violence assault,’ police Chief Craig Capri told the News-Journal. ‘I just feel bad for her but the officers did their job as required by the law.'” Reynolds was released on her own recognizance from the Volusia County Jail the very next day following her booking.
Although Williams does not permanently live with Reynolds, Reynolds also reported to police that her granddaughter refused to listen to her and was screaming and cursing at her during their argument. I don’t know about you, but methinks 46 years of age is far, far too old to be mooching off one’s grandmother, or grandfather or mother or father for that matter, and with a bad, disrespectful attitude to boot. Based on the details of this story provided, perhaps an old-fashioned slap across the face by her grandmother was just what Janeen needed – not to mention a good number of other grown children and grandchildren.
