Let God Be God! And You Be You

“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”

– John 12:32

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.”

– Mark 16:15

“Be aware: you are not responsible for causing a person’s heart to turn toward God. Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him” (John 6:44). It is God who draws people to himself, not you. But even so, you do not want to miss God-ordained opportunities to share your faith with others, or you also miss opportunities to experience the good things God had planned for you. Philemon, verse 6, says, “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” You see, success is sharing your faith and living your life for Jesus Christ. It has nothing whatsoever to do with bringing anyone to the Lord. It has everything to do with obedience. Even if you do not have the privilege to see someone respond the first time you share your faith, you have not failed, because you were obedient.”

– William Fay with Linda Evans Shepherd, Share Jesus Without Fear

One day, we were passing out Gospel tracts, participating in the Gospel Light Colportage Ministry of passing out over 100,000 Gospel pamphlets in a nearby community. Of course, the devil tried to attack by saying to me, “What good is passing out this Gospel literature when nobody’s going to read it and you are probably going to irritate these people.” But then, after prayer, I believe the voice of God whispered to me: “Let God be God and you be you.” In other words, ‘you just be obedient and faithful to Me and pass out Gospel literature and witness to people for Me, and don’t you worry about whether or not your effort is effective. You can’t save anybody; only I can. I’ll do the saving; you just do the sowing and the watering.’

Let God be God and you be you. You do what you can do, and He will do the saving. Let God be God!
