Bear Bryant’s Great Grandson, Paul Tyson, Commits to University of Alabama

College football’s greatest coaching legend is going to have a descendant in the family business, as of approximately September 2019.

Hewitt Trussville (Ala.) quarterback Paul Tyson is former Alabama coach Bear Bryant’s great-grandson. He’s a four-star in the class of 2019, ranked as the No. 7 pro-style passer in the country. And he announced Thursday that he’ll follow his ancestor to Tuscaloosa:

Tyson’s Alabama high school, Hewitt-Trussville, has produced a handful of Power 5 players over the years. It’s well within Alabama’s standard recruiting turf anyway.

This feels like the obvious outcome, but Tyson said during his recruitment that he wasn’t automatically going to Alabama.
