Sen. Bob Corker Says Trump Is on Track to Pull Out of Iran Nuclear Deal

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) said on Sunday he expects President Trump to pull out of the Iran nuclear agreement. Speaking to CBS’ Face the Nation, Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said Trump’s decision would be made around May 12, the next deadline for the White House to re-certify Tehran’s compliance with the deal. “The Iran deal will be another issue that’s coming up in May, and right now it doesn’t feel like it’s gonna be extended,” he said. Trump has repeatedly railed against the landmark 2015 deal with Iran, which he has described as the “worst deal ever.” In January, he delivered an ultimatum to European signatories to “fix the terrible flaws” in the agreement or see the U.S. refuse to offer further sanctions relief. Britain, France, and Germany have reportedly proposed slapping new EU sanctions on Iran over its ballistic missiles and activities in the Syrian war.
