Dear Daughters & YBW:
Yes, it is true: God loves His girls in a very special way, and He desires to hear from you regularly. Why does God want to hear from you? Well, He wants to hear from you for several reasons:
1. He loves you, and He created you to fellowship with Him.
2. He knows that you need Him. He wants to guide you and to direct you to success in life.
3. He wants you to have wisdom and obtain favor in the sight of God and man.
4. He wants to bless your life with the things you need and the good things you desire.
Please notice what the Bible says in Jeremiah 33:3: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.”
One of the reasons why I am emphasizing prayer early in this book is because in my life experience I have noticed that many women have a hard time maintaining a solid prayer life. Take for example, my wife of 20 years, Meriqua. I recall that when we first got married, for several months when I attempted to pray with her, she really didn’t want to pray, and she would fall asleep while praying. The truth is, my new Christian bride was simply not as interested in prayer as I was. Not only that, but she also didn’t really see the importance of prayer. Prayer is just as important for women as it is for men. If you have a hard time praying as well, here’s how to get started:
How To Pray: In praying, follow the example our Lord Jesus Christ laid down in Matthew 6:9-13:
a. Thank the Lord (verse 9)
b. Ask God’s will for your life (verse 10)
c. Ask for your daily needs (verse 11)
d. Confess your sins and ask for forgiveness (verse 12)
e. Ask God to deliver you from temptation, evil, and sin (verse 13a)
f. Praise the Lord (verse 13b)
When To Pray: Pray as the Lord leads you. The Holy Spirit will prompt you to pray throughout the day. It is also good to pray at appointed times, as King David and the Prophet Daniel did. The Bible says in I Thessalonians 5:17 that we ought to, “Pray without ceasing.”
May I lovingly encourage you to overcome any obstacle that would hinder you from maintaining a strong prayer life? Prayer does not have to be difficult. Just keep it simple, to the point, and remember what the great author and evangelist John R. Rice used to say: “Prayer is simply asking and receiving from God.” Regular, consistent communication with God Almighty will make all the difference in your life.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” —Philippians 4:6

“God is more interested in the quality of the prayer, not the quantity and eloquence of the words.” —Anonymous
“Prayer is a Sin-Killer. No one can sin and pray, for prayer will either make us cease from sin, or sin will make us cease from prayer.” —Anonymous
“Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.” —Corrie ten Boom
“Do not have your concert first and tune your instruments afterward. Begin the day with God.” —J. Hudson Taylor
“When the ‘prayers’ go up, the blessings come down.” —Daniel Whyte III
BIBLE GEM: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” —Matthew 7:7
TALK TO GOD: Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me the privilege of prayer. I pray that you would help me to be a woman of prayer and help me to learn to depend on You for everything. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
