John Kelly Sends White House Staffers Memo Condemning Domestic Abuse

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly wrote a memo to White House staff Thursday evening condemning domestic violence and addressing the allegations against former staff secretary Rob Porter. “While we are all processing the shocking and troubling allegations made against a former White House staffer, I want you to know that we all take matters of domestic violence seriously,” wrote Kelly. “Domestic violence is abhorrent and has no place in our society.” CNN also reported that West Wing morale on Thursday was low, and a source called the strong defenses of Porter from the administration “communication malpractice.” This comes after Porter resigned from the White House amid reports from the Daily Mail outlining alleged domestic abuse as told by Porter’s two ex-wives.
