Two women who have accused music mogul Russell Simmons of sex crimes detailed the alleged incidents in a joint TV interview Tuesday.
Sherri Hines, formerly of the all-female hip-hop group Mercedes Ladies, and actress Natashia Williams-Blach — both of whom have accused Simmons of sexually violating them when they were 18 years old — appeared on NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today.”
Hines claims Simmons raped her in his New York office around 1983 after he allegedly asked her to check out the space.
“When I got there, he told me to sit down. He sat down next to me,” Hines recalled on the morning talk show.
“And it was weird. It happened so fast,” she said. “Next thing you know, I’m being pinned down and I’m like, ‘Whoa! Get off me!’ I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’”
Hines continued: “And he’s still pinning me down and I was trying to maneuver and get out of it … and he just held me down.”
Hines said she remembered how there was a lamp nearby “and I was trying to grab it.”
“The next thing I know, my pants were down and he was having his way,” she said. “And when he finished, I ran out of there and I was crying. I couldn’t believe I was just violated like that.”
Hines said she was stunned following the alleged incident, especially after Simmons had met her mother.
After the alleged attack, Hines’ friend told her to tell her mother, but she said no.
“My mother would kill me like, ‘What were you doing there?’” she said. “The way I felt at the time, I couldn’t believe this man just violated me.”
