A 24-year-old woman has been charged after two of her sons were found dead Friday night at their southwest Atlanta home, police said.
Lamora Williams is facing two counts of murder, police spokesman John Chafee said in a statement. She has been booked into the Fulton County jail.
Police found the boys, age 2 and 1, about 11:30 p.m. when they responded to a person injured call in the 900 block of Howell Place, Chafee said.
The preliminary investigation indicates the boys received burn marks on their bodies at some point, possibly from the stove, according to police.
Williams told police she left the children with a caregiver about noon Friday and returned about 11:30 p.m., according to the statement. She said she found the children dead and the caregiver gone.
At this time, investigators, who have interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence, “do not believe the children’s mother left them with a caregiver,” Chafee said.
