White House says ESPN’s Jemele Hill Should be ‘Fired’ for Calling Trump a White Supremacist

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called ESPN SportsCenter host Jemele Hill’s comments on President Trump “a fireable offense” during Wednesday’s press briefing.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Hill wrote “Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists” and that Trump’s “rise is a direct result of white supremacy.”

ESPN issued a statement on Tuesday that stated Hill’s comments “do not represent the position of ESPN.”

“That’s one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something I think is a fireable offense by ESPN,” Sanders said.

Sanders said that she was unaware if Trump had knowledge of Hill’s comments.

Messages left with ESPN were not immediately returned on Wednesday.
