Pastor William H. Dewberry III is under fire after allegedly posting a sexually suggestive comment on an Instagram post by singer Nicki Minaj.
Dewberry, a retired U.S. soldier who serves at Carnegie Church of God In Christ in Memphis, TN, allegedly wrote, ‘I’d love to eat your booty’, alongside one of Minaj’s selfies.
After receiving backlash online, he is now claiming that the account belongs to an impersonator. He wrote on his Faceook page, “Saints, I need your help. Somebody created a fake Instagram page under my name. I don’t know who did this. But, this needs to come down ASAP! May somebody report this IMMEDIATELY! I did not create this. I already have an Instagram page, and this one ain’t me!!!!”
One follower replied saying, “How is this fake? You’ve used this page.”
The so-called “fake” Instagram page, which has thousands of followers, has been active since January 2016. It has been updated regularly with photos of Dewberry and his family.
In another alleged incident, the account posted messages about a woman named Tarshiela Toles, calling her the “biggest whore in Columbus, Georgia” and threatening to post nude pictures of her if she did not stop trying to reach the pastor on Snapchat.
One woman who knows Dewberry defended him online, writing, “This is bogus! Elder III would not do anything like this.”
It remains unclear whether Dewberry owns the account the comment was sent from, however Complex took the time to do some investigating. They found that while Dewberry pastors in Memphis, he indicates on his Facebook page that he lives in Columbus, GA.
