This podcast is designed to give you a basic understanding of God, the Bible, and Christian beliefs. J. Dwight Pentecost said, “There is no higher activity in which the mind may be engaged than the pursuit of the knowledge of God.”

Today’s passage of Scripture is 1 Corinthians 10:13 which reads: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Today’s words from a theologian are from Albert Barnes. He said: “The Bible, as a revelation from God, was not designed to give us all the information we might desire, nor to solve all the questions about which the human soul is perplexed, but to impart enough to be a safe guide to the haven of eternal rest.”

Our first topic for today is titled “What Are Angels and Demons? (Part 2)” from the book, “Understanding Theology in 15 Minutes a Day” by Dr. Daryl Aaron.

It seems that all angels were created good and holy — they are referred to as “holy ones” in Psalm 89:5-7 and “holy angels” elsewhere—but at some point, many rebelled against God. This seems to be the point of texts like 2 Peter 2:4, “God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,” and Jude 6, “The angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.”

Our second topic for today is titled “Theology of the Synoptics (Part 11)” from “The Moody Handbook of Theology” by Dr. Paul Enns.

— Atoning Work

Following His rejection by the nation Israel, Christ foretold His sufferings in Jerusalem. In these passages Jesus foretold who would initiate His death, who would kill Him, how He would be killed, that He would suffer additional things, but that He would be raised after three days.
