Recordings Suggest Suge Knight Discussed Trying to Bribe Witnesses with his Defense Attorney, Others

Rap impresario Marion “Suge” Knight and his defense attorney may have been recorded discussing paying witnesses thousands of dollars to invent testimony in the 52-year-old music producer’s impending murder trial, according to court records submitted by prosecutors and made public on Thursday. In the 22-page filing, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office claims that attorney Matthew Fletcher and Knight, along with two others, shared a phone call in which they said “they were going to assist the defendant in procuring witnesses for his defense, which included payments for fabricated testimony.” Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, was in jail at the time of the call. He will stand trial next year for allegedly ramming his truck into Cle “Bone” Sloan and Terry Carter in a parking lot in 2015. Carter was killed in the encounter.
