New Mexico police are searching for suspects after a man was found screaming and nailed to a tree.

On Monday morning, city workers cleaning up a forest in Albuquerque found the man about a quarter of a mile up a walking trail. According to KRQE the man was nailed to a tree in a crucifix formation using three-inch nails.

Cops say the man was sent to hospital and was treated for his injuries. When asked about a motive, police say the man would not cooperate.

Resident Richard Rubio told KRQE he’s shocked to hear something like this could happen.

“I am pretty surprised,” Rubio said. “I come out here quite regularly, two to three times a week, and I have never seen anything like that.”
