This podcast is designed to give you a basic understanding of God, the Bible, and Christian beliefs. J. Dwight Pentecost said, “There is no higher activity in which the mind may be engaged than the pursuit of the knowledge of God.”
Today’s passage of Scripture is 1 Corinthians 4:20 which reads: “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”
Today’s words from a theologian are from Adam Clarke. He said: “Many talk much, and indeed well, of what Christ has done for us: but how little is spoken of what he is to do in us! and yet all that he has done for us is in reference to what he is to do in us.”
Our first topic for today is titled “What Are Angels and Demons? (Part 1)” from the book, “Understanding Theology in 15 Minutes a Day” by Dr. Daryl Aaron.
The doctrine of angels is unusual in that it deals with beings that are part of the spiritual realm, which is beyond our powers of observation. So we are entirely dependent upon what we are told about them in Scripture, as opposed to what we can learn about them through investigation. As we have seen, even though God also dwells in the spiritual realm, there is a degree to which he has made himself known through general revelation. For angels, we only know what God has told us about them.
Our second topic for today is titled “Theology of the Synoptics (Part 10)” from “The Moody Handbook of Theology” by Dr. Paul Enns.
Matthew stresses Jesus as the Son of David. In Matthew 9:27 it is clear that the blind men understood the Son of David to be the Messiah Who could do the work of Messiah—such as open the eyes of the blind, which is a work of God. The use of the name in Matthew 21:9 reveals its significance as the coming Redeemer Who would bring Salvation to the nation and rescue her, bringing in a time of blessing.
