The National Black Church Initiative (NBCI), a faith-based coalition of 34,000 churches comprised of 15 denominations and 15.7 million African Americans, with over 800 local churches in the District of Columbia congratulates Jason Chaffetz, Rep. Dr. Andy Harris and the other Republicans in the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the House Appropriation Committee, who voted to block the implementation of the District of Columbia’s Death with Dignity Act.
Rev. Anthony Evans, President of the National Black Church Initiative, says, “The National Black Church Initiative with its 34,000 churches, 15.7 million members and 800 district churches commend and stand with Representative Andy Harris, Republican of Maryland who is positioned to protect the dignity of life. We want Congress to kill the District of Columbia Assisted-Suicide Bill and we stand with the Republicans on this issue over and against the liberal, radical feminists who want the old and the poor to commit suicide and get out of the way.”
“What type of society do we have when the Government’s top leaders are encouraging people, mainly the old the poor and the Black to commit suicide? This means that our politicians have reached a level of depravity that even God does not recognize. This is why the Black Church must stand up for the poor, the rejected, the disinherited and those whose backs are against the wall.”
“Many of our older members of our congregations tell us with a paranoid type of voice that they know exactly what is going on here. The white developers want and have stolen the homes of African American old and poor and now want to encourage their suicide to get them out of the way so that the young, white and rich can move into the District.”
The National Black Church Initiative supports Speaker Ryan and House Republicans and urge them to block and kill the DC Assisted-Suicide Law. The Black Church strongly believes that this law is poorly written and does not have a theological, philosophical or a medical justification for it in the District of Columbia. Many older African Americans who have lived in the District for over 50 years believe that they are being targeted by this law.
DC Councilmember Mary Cheh who introduced this Bill for whatever apparent reason is one of the most uncompassionate and unethical people on the City Council. Let us explain. There has not been tens of thousands of District residents crying out for an Assisted-Suicide Bill. There is no one in her family who is dying. She simply believes she has the right to decide who lives and who dies because she is a constitutional lawyer. The Black Church believes such an individual is dangerous to be so unethically arrogant to believe they can determine the definition of life and death. This is why the Church calls her Bill purely evil in nature. The question is, what is her raw emotional motive for doing this?
Mayor Bowser argues that this is an encroachment on the sovereignty of the citizens of the District of Columbia. How foolish can one person be? No citizens of the District of Columbia are hollering from the depths of their souls to kill them or allow them to die. Who is she protecting with this false notion of sovereignty when the lives of our older citizens are on the line? Let us get this right. She wants the power to allow individuals to kill themselves but as Mayor, and as a Black woman, she does not care about the killing that takes place every single night in the District of Columbia between young Black males which she is incapable of stopping with a police force of 35-5,000 sworn officers. All of a sudden she is paralyzed to stop such killing but wants the authority to allow people to kill themselves. This is a classic case of one person dying spiritually and drunk with power.
Mayor Bowser represents what is wrong with liberal Black politicians who jump onto the wagon of the District authority over and against the will of God and their own community. She and Mary Cheh represent what is the worst of when it comes down to being liberal and radical feminists. Both of them, like Hillary Clinton want to prove to everyone that they can kill like the rest of them and the Black Church will have none of it. Kill this Bill!
