Son Kills Stepfather During Argument in Kansas

Authorities in Overland Park have arrested a man after they say he murdered his stepfather early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened about 1:30 a.m. at a duplex on Nieman Road near 92nd Street.

Police say they were called to the duplex over a family dispute.

As officers approached the house they heard between five and seven gunshots. The officers hid behind trees and pulled out their guns.

The suspect then walked out the door. The murder weapon was still inside the house.

Officers told the man to put his hands up and then took him into custody.

Police say the suspect was in his 30s and that he shot his step father during an argument. The suspect’s mother called 911.
