God has been under attack in the world almost since the beginning of time, but He and those who believe in Him are under attack more now than ever before. Atheism is increasing and atheists are becoming more vocal. This podcast is an ongoing debate response to such people as Richard Dawkins, Bill Maher, Stephen Hawking and others who don’t believe in God and who preach atheism to the world. This podcast is also designed to equip Christians to do what the Holy Scriptures command, and that is to, “earnestly contend for the faith” and to “be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh us a reason of the hope that is in us”. But more importantly, this podcast is designed to give you a reason to believe in God and His Son Jesus Christ.
Our Reasons to Believe Scripture Passage for today is 2 Corinthians 10:5-6. It reads, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
Our Reasons to Believe quote for today is from Billy Graham. He said, “Someone once asked Billy Graham, ‘If Christianity is valid, why is there so much evil in the world?’ To this the famous preacher replied, ‘With so much soap, why are there so many dirty people in the world? Christianity, like soap, must be personally applied if it is to make a difference in our lives.’”
Our Reason to Believe powerpoint today is titled “The Divinity of Christ” part 19 from “The Handbook of Christian Apologetics” by Peter Kreeft and Ronald K. Tacelli. And, I want to remind you to take advantage of our special offer. If you enjoy this podcast, please feel free to purchase a copy of this book — “The Handbook of Christian Apologetics.”
We will now begin looking at eight flat-out contradictions between Jesus’ Judaism and the universal teaching of all gurus:
1. Judaism is an exoteric (public) religion of collective observance of a public law (Torah) and belief in a public book (the Scriptures). But the gurus and mystics of all cultures teach an esoteric (private), individual, inner experience that cannot be communicated in words.
When Jesus was on trial and under oath, questioned by the high priest he said: “I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said to them; they know what I said” (Jn 18:20-21). That is not what a guru says; that is what a rabbi says.
