This podcast that teaches every Bible-believing Christian how to preach the Gospel by any means necessary in many different settings, including using the internet and the new “podcast pulpit”.
Our Scripture verse on preaching is Titus 1:3 which reads: “God hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour.”
Our quote on preaching today is from George Whitefield. He said, “It is a poor sermon that gives no offense, that neither makes the hearer displeased with himself nor with the preacher.”
Today, our topic is titled “The Qualifications of the Preacher, Part 27” from “The Preacher and his Preaching” by Alfred P. Gibbs.
This section is titled: HE MUST BE FIT FOR THE WORK (PART 12)
Our bodies can be used, by God, for His glory. David spoke of this in Psalm 92:1-3. Note the words, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O most High. To show forth Thy loving kindness in the morning, and Thy faithfulness every night, upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.” The body could be likened to this ten stringed instrument which, when placed unreservedly in the hands of the divine Musician, is capable of producing exquisite melody to the glory of God. These ten strings could represent our: two eyes to read His Word; two ears to hear His voice; two feet to walk in ways well pleasing to Him; two hands to gladly do His bidding in useful service; a mouth to testify for Him; and a heart in which He reigns supreme. When these ten members of the body are thus yielded to the Lord, He can produce wondrous melody and harmony as His fingers sweep over the responsive chords.
