Bishop Frank Summerfield, pastor of the Word of God Fellowship Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, June 2nd, 2017. He was 67 years old. He leaves behind his wife, JoeNell Summerfield, and their four children — Frank Jr., Mitchell, Valisha, and Joshua.

Along with being a pastor, Frank Summerfield was an entrepreneur, life coach, financial consultant, and television director. He and his wife, JoeNell, were married for forty years. Each of their four children served in Summerfield’s ministry — Frank Jr. as a music minister, Mitchell as associate pastor, Valisha as human resource director, and Joshua as young adult pastor.
Summerfield graduated with a B.A. in Health & Physical Education from Kansas Wesleyan University; an M.A. in Health Education from Montclair State University; and a Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Saint Thomas Christian College of Jacksonville, Florida.
Pastor Summerfield’s Facebook page overflowed with messages of gratitude. The post announcing his death garnered nearly 300 comments and over 500 shares within 24 hours.
