A Cleveland mother and her two sons have been charged with murder after police say they beat a man to death after breaking into his home.
Holly Hentges, 41, Nicholas Franklin, 21, and his 16-year-old brother were arrested by US Marshals on Thursday in connection to a June 18 home invasion that resulted in the death of Charles Foster.
Foster, a father-of-five and a grandfather, would have celebrated his 50th birthday on July 4.
The victim worked as a welder and lived about a mile from Hentges and her sons.
According to police, shortly before midnight on June 18, the woman and the two young men forced their way into Foster’s home in the 3100 block of West 97th Street and attacked him.
As Cleveland.com has reported, officers who responded to the scene found the 49-year-old man lying unresponsive in a pool of blood. He was taken to MetroHealth System, where he later died.
An autopsy determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma, and Foster’s death was ruled a homicide. No motive for the killing was given.
Foster’s fiancee initially told investigators that he was ambushed by someone on his way home from a gas station.
All three suspects in the killing have been charged with aggravated murder.
Hentges’ younger son, who has not been named, is also charged in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court with aggravated burglary and kidnapping.
