The rivalry between Hillary Clinton and the Obamas is nothing new, as Colin Powell once wrote, Clinton would only refer to President Obama as “that man” — and it seems more evidence showing the rift between them has surfaced.

As part of their freedom of information lawsuit to obtain Hillary Clinton’s emails, conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch is revealing Clinton went to great lengths to keep herself separated from the Obamas.

In an email exchange from 2011, which would’ve been during the time Clinton served as Secretary of State, top aide Huma Abedin tells Clinton that Michelle Obama would be attending Betty Ford’s funeral.

“I’d be honored to speak,” Clinton writes back. “Is it okay that we and Mrs. O take two separate planes.”

Abedin responds that she thinks it’s okay, to which Clinton reiterates that she would rather have her own plane “of course.”

However, the perceived rivalry washed away when it came to preserving Obama’s legacy, as Michelle Obama campaigned hand-in-hand with Clinton during the 2016 election, speaking on several occasions for Clinton.
