Germany’s foreign minister has welcomed the success of Emmanuel Macron in the French presidential election.
Sigmar Gabriel has said during a trip to Jordan that “I’m sure that he will become the new French president,” according to German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
He says that Macron is “the only pro-European candidate who didn’t hide behind prejudices against Europe.”
Gabriel has called Macron a great presidential candidate, “but also a very likable person and a good friend.”
