Our Work of the Chaplain passage for this episode is Matthew 20:26-28 which says, “Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Our Work of the Chaplain quote for this episode is from John Chrysostom. He said, “The rich man is not one who is in possession of much, but one who gives much.”

In this podcast, we are going through the fine book: “The Work of the Chaplain” by Naomi K. Paget and Janet R. McCormack.

Our topic today is: Healthcare Chaplaincy (Part 3)

— CPE Supervisors

There are three levels of CPE supervisors: supervisor-in-training (SIT), associate CPE supervisor, and full supervisor. Typically, one becomes a CPE supervisor following an intensive course of training and accreditation. Individuals pursuing chaplaincy as a CPE supervisor must first meet all qualifications for staff chaplains and then be accepted for advanced training as a prospective supervisor by a committee of accredited CPE supervisors. During the supervisor training period, candidates study educational, social science, and theological theories and methods, write papers on those topics, and meet with a CPE supervisory education peer group as well as with their own accredited CPE Supervisor.
