Chaplains are spiritual representatives of Christ commissioned to work in mostly secular institutions. We are expected to serve both the spiritual and emotional needs of others through listening, prayer, Scripture reading, and being God’s hands and feet in the organization we are privileged to serve in. This podcast is designed to equip chaplains and those training to be chaplains with the resources and encouragement they need to carry out their calling in life.
Our Ordained Chaplains Scripture verse for today is Galatians 5:13-14 which reads, “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
Our Ordained Chaplains quote for today is from Albert Schweitzer. He said, “The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others.”
In this podcast, we will continue discussing the book “Out of the Depths” by Anton T. Boisen. We continue today with “Undergraduate Days” (Part 2):
It was veneration for my father that determined my choice of a major subject in the college course. After completing the required courses in English, German, and mathematics, I was having a hard time deciding what to take as my specialty, I thought seriously of mathematics, but I eventually decided upon German, chiefly because my father had been a teacher of modern languages. With this decision made, I threw myself vigorously into my chosen field, taking also Greek and French and then, in my senior year, Gothic and Old English.
