3 Taken to Hospital After Bounce House at Orlando, Florida, Church Is Picked Up by Blast of Wind With Children Inside

An Orlando church’s family day was marred by a blast of wind Sunday that lifted a bounce house off the ground with several children inside, officials said.

The incident was reported at about 2:40 p.m. at Iglesia Fuente de Agua Viva when the wind hit, injuring four children and an adult trying to hold down the bounce house, church members said.

Two of the children and the adult were injured severely enough to require a trip to the hospital, pastor Elizabeth Varquez said through translator, and church member, Laura Rodriguez.

“We were celebrating a family day and everything was going well,” Varquez said. “The weather was good, pleasant, and all of a sudden a strong wind came and it lifted up the bounce house.”

About 100 people attended the event at the church off South John Young Parkway.
