The commuters looked like they knew the wave of snow was coming, but certainly didn’t expect it would be so big.
A video shows the impact of an Amtrak train barreling through huge snowdrifts at a station in Rhinecliff, N.Y., on Wednesday morning. Heavy snow from the blizzard, aka Winter Storm Stella, covered the tracks, and the train was the first one to roar through after the storm ended.
Amtrak said Thursday that the train “was traveling at the authorized speed,” and the engineer followed applicable rules, according to NBC4 in New York.
“We always advise customers to stand back from the platform edge as trains approach and this was an unusual occurrence considering the large amount of snow on the tracks,” the statement said.
