The Chicago Bears appear to have their quarterback.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup Mike Glennon is expected to sign with the team Thursday on a three-year contract worth at least $14.5 million a year, a person with knowledge of the deal confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal — first reported early Thursday by NFL Media — hadn’t been finalized. No contracts can become official until the league year begins at 4 p.m. ET.
Glennon, 27, hasn’t started a game since 2014. In 21 career games (18 starts), he has completed 59.4% of his passes for 4,100 yards, 30 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and an 84.6 rating. And the Bucs never got the compensation they sought through trade talks in recent years. But he has a positive reputation within the league and now appears poised to get his shot.
