Man in Hockey Mask Attacks Reporter During Live Broadcast

A reporter with Eyewitness News was taping a segment in Manhattan last night, when he was approached by a man in a hockey mask who interrupted the broadcast and eventually shoved him to the ground. The reporter, CeFaan Kim, shared video of last night’s incident on his personal Twitter account this afternoon.

In the video Kim shared, you can see the man in the hockey mask come up to Kim and put his arm around him, which appeared to annoy Kim. The camera briefly pans up from the two men, but you can hear the man yell “Put the camera on me” shortly after that. When the camera pans back to them, the men are tussling, and Kim is shoved to the ground, before a bystander keeps the men separate from each other. “I didn’t attack you, you attacked me,” the man is heard yelling, after he’d taken the hockey mask off.

On his Facebook page, Kim shared a photo of the man when he first approached him, and wrote “Guy totally snuck up on me. He wouldn’t get off me so I shoved him off and then he pushed me to the ground.” He also said that his only injuries from the incident were “a scrape and a bruise” and admitted that the picture a viewer sent him was “one helluva photo.”

Police say the attack took place shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday, in front of 132 Delancey Street, and that they’re investigating the incident.
