Ex-Guantanamo Bay Detainee Reportedly Carried Out Suicide Bombing For ISIS

Jamal al-Harith, a 50-year-old from Manchester, England, who was born Ronald Fiddler, was identified by his family as the man ISIS claims carried out a suicide bombing near Mosul in Iraq. Al-Harith was formerly a detainee at the prison at Guantanamo Bay and reportedly paid by the U.K. government after his release. He had been taken to Guantanamo after being found in a prison in Afghanistan in early 2002 after being intercepted by Taliban fighters who believed he was a British spy. According to his Guantanamo file, al-Harith was taken to the U.S. military prison because he was “expected to have knowledge of Taliban treatment of prisoners and interrogation tactics.”
