Oprah Winfrey is a billionaire, entrepreneur, philanthropist, actress, producer and director — and she’s adding another job description to her already multi-hyphened title: packaged food purveyor.
Kraft Heinz and Winfrey announced Wednesday that they’ve teamed up on a joint culinary venture. Called Mealtime Stories, LLC, the brand seeks to “create a new line of food that will make real, nutritious products more accessible to everyone.”
In a statement, the company and the mogul said the brand’s first offering will involve refrigerated products “across multiple categories.”
Kraft Heinz will be the entity to develop, manufacture, market and sell Mealtime Stories products in the U.S.; 10% of products’ profits will be donated to charities that seek to eradicate hunger.
A representative for Winfrey did not immediately answer questions from FORBES regarding the impetus behind the partnership with Kraft Heinz or what the new line of products might mean for the culinary trademarks she requested with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in May. (The springtime applications, filed under the name “Oprah’s Kitchen,” covered a wide swath of grocery products and, notably, included a line for “frozen, prepared or packaged entrees consisting primarily of meat, fish, poultry or vegetables.”)
