Dash camera footage of a horror crash in Utah has been released showing a loaded FedEx cargo semi-truck being decimated by a passing FrontRunner train.
The crash appears to have been caused due to the barriers, flashing lights and bells not being activated in the North Salt Lake intersection.
The Utah Transit Authority is investigating why the crossing gates were upright as the train passed, allowing vehicles to pass through despite the imminent danger.
A release by the Utah Transit Authority stated that even in the case of a power outage, the crossing gates are programmed to remain in a downward position, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Due to a severe storm that day, the intersection at 100 North and 100 East had been covered with heavy ice and snow.
No one was injured in the crash, though the belongings contained in the FedEx truck were likely damaged.

The release continued: ‘The agency has never had an accident like this before, and UTA is investigating why and how it happened to ensure it doesn’t occur again.’
The agency reiterated that safety is their top priority.
They also stated that they are ‘committed to a thorough and accurate review of this incident to ensure we are providing a safe transit system to our customers.’
