Elderly New Jersey Woman and Great-Granddaughter Disappear During North Carolina Trip

Christmas morning was one of concern and worry for the family of an elderly woman and her great-granddaughter.

Barbara Briely, 71, and La’Myra, 5, were headed from New Jersey to North Carolina to visit family when the two vanished. Briely and La’Myra were last seen at an Exxon gas station in Ruther Glen, Va., on Christmas Eve.

According to WWBT-TV in Richmond, Va., Briley’s phone pinged as recently as Tuesday morning in the area of the Dinwiddie, Va., near the airport off I-85.

Barbara’s grandson, Deante Ramseur, told NBC Charlotte affiliate WCAU-TV that his grandmother always keeps her phone on her and calls to say wherever she is, but she hasn’t called in the last few days.

“They spoke to her while she was in traffic,” Ramseur says of the last time the family heard from Barbara. “Then, she said she was lost, but she takes that route all the time.”

According to WCAU, Ramseur and a group of relatives drove south to search for their missing loved ones on Christmas morning.
