Raghad Saddam Hussein, former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s daughter, said in an interview released Thursday that she has high hopes for President-elect Donald Trump, noting that he has a “high level of political sensibility.”
“This man has just arrived to the leadership … but from what is apparent, this man has a high level of political sensibility, that is vastly different than the one who preceded him,” Raghad told CNN. “He exposed the mistakes of the others, specifically in terms of Iraq, which means he is very aware of the mistakes made in Iraq and what happened to my father.”
On the campaign trail, the president-elect said he opposed the war in Iraq, though he publicly supported the invasion in previous interviews. Trump called Saddam Hussein “a bad guy,” but he has also praised the dictator for killing “terrorists.”
