Alan Thicke was laid to rest in Santa Barbara Monday, and on Tuesday, his widow, Tanya Callau, spoke out in mourning.
“It is with gut-wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time,” Callau wrote in a statement sent to USA TODAY. “Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke.”
Thicke suffered a fatal heart attack while he was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son, Carter, on Dec. 13. He was 69.
Callau’s statement continued: “Yesterday, along with my stepsons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soulmate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning.”
Photos acquired by the Daily Mail showed Robin Thicke in attendance at the funeral, dressed in black and overcome with emotion. Previously, in a statement Robin called his father “the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had.”
