Talk show “The Real” experienced a ratings decline after former co-host Tamar Braxton was fired in May—something she addresses this week on The T.D. Jakes Show.
“Ooh Lord, ain’t that terrible,” said the GRAMMY® Award-nominated R&B singer, cheekily and sarcastically, making the studio audience chuckle.
The conversation about the shocking termination that occurred in May was initiated by the nationally syndicated host and pastor of The Potter’s House of Dallas, 59.
“I don’t know whether you know it or not, but The Real has been struggling a little bit since you left,” Jakes said, citing official ratings reports from Broadcasting Cable that showed “The Real” ratings matching its series low this fall.
“Ooh Lord, ain’t that terrible. Lord Jesus. Help ‘em Lord. Save it!” shouted Braxton, 39.
As she feigned sincere prayer, the WE tv reality star, who still appears on “Braxton Family Values” and “Tamar & Vince,” jerked her body as Pentecostal Christians do when feeling the unction of the Holy Spirit.
Continuing her comedic response, Braxton yelled out, “Resuscitate!”
Jakes laughed and replied, “I don’t think He heard you,” suggesting that God was not attentive to her ratings-revival prayer in light of the dip in viewership.
Though Braxton is evoking laughter and is seemingly unfazed by her exit these days, during a June 2 episode of “Braxton Family Values,” the outspoken celebrity broke down in tears while telling her sister Toni Braxton about what happened.
“I just don’t know what I did wrong,” the heartbroken media personality lamented to her older sibling, 49. “I’m so humiliated, Toni — I don’t know what to do. I know everybody’s gonna think it’s something I did or, ‘She’s this way, and she’s got a big mouth.’ I could probably understand more if I had known that I did something, but I don’t know what I did.”
During the raw moment the former co-host famous for her neck-rolling, lip-smacking and screw-facing, tearfully expressed, “I feel disrespected, I feel let down, I feel disregarded because it’s never been a conversation.”
