Two police officers were shot during a traffic stop in Georgia on Monday night, the third time in less than two weeks that police officers in that state have been shot in the line of duty.
Two officers from the Lavonia Police Department conducted the stop off I-85 on Monday night, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
During the stop a person in the vehicle fired on two officers, the GBI said. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized.
The GBI identified the shooter as Khari Anthony Dashaun Gordon, 22, of Greenville, South Carolina. The GBI says Gordon fired the shots that wounded both of the officers.
